[saje] Pesach Lecture this Week! And More Updates

Hello hello SAJE fans!

We're excited to announce a new scholar-in-residence series: Chometz and Matzah! Wednesday evening Passover-themed talks will be accompanied by bagels, lox, and cream cheese! We can't wait to see you at the first, this week!

Wednesday, February 18th, 6:30pm
5450 Dorchester.
We will examine two parallel, early sources for the seder from the Mishnah and Tosefta, to figure out what the early Rabbis envisioned for a ceremonial replay and retelling of the Exodus.

Joel Goldstein is a former engineer and programmer who now works in Jewish education, including teaching Talmud at Chicagoland Jewish High School. He spent a year at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem, including a semester in the Kollel, and a summer at Yeshivat Hadar. Together with his wife, he spent two years teaching, running minyanim, and consulting with students as a Yeshivat Hadar Campus Scholar at the University of Michigan. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Washington. He grew up in Los Angeles and attended Shalhevet High School. He currently writes weekly source sheets, which he shares at http://threefoldcordtorah.blogspot.com/.

Please RSVP to saje@uchicago.edu

Our next lecture in the series will be Wednesday, February 25, with Ezra Blaustein of Yeshiva University and UChicago Divinity School.

Stay tuned for SAJE Purim updates!
